About R.M.
I'm originally from Mobile, Alabama. I was a kid who was curious about business, loved sports, and kept finding ways to feed that curiosity by building things: a lawn care business, an eBay store, and whatever else I could get going. That early instinct to build and figure things out still shapes how I approach investing today.
I attended Morehouse College, and my career since has spanned principal investing, private equity, venture capital, and transaction advisory.
Today I run BluePrint Strategy, an independent M&A and investment advisory practice. I work with athletes and entertainers, family offices, and private equity and independent sponsors on deal execution and investment analysis, from diligence and structuring through the reporting infrastructure that keeps a business running after close.
Alongside that, I run a concentrated public equities portfolio focused on AI infrastructure, semiconductors, and consumer and enterprise technology, underwriting positions on business model, competitive position, and where each company sits in its capital cycle, using multiple-based entry frameworks rather than price targets. AI runs through both the thesis and the toolkit: I use it daily to accelerate research and build investment frameworks.
Most recently, I was Director at HOORAE, Issa Rae's multi-entity media platform and family office, where I served as the sole investment professional under the CFO. I evaluated direct investment opportunities across venture, private equity, sports, media, and real estate, executed transactions including the San Diego FC MLS expansion investment and a growth financing for ColorCreative from HarbourView, and built the KPI and reporting infrastructure supporting eight operating businesses.
Before HOORAE, I co-founded a transaction advisory firm serving private equity and independent sponsors, where we closed a control acquisition of a sports academy platform. Earlier I worked in venture capital, sourcing and diligencing early-stage investments in technology, software, and fintech, and in private equity, supporting growth and buyout underwriting across technology, media, and business services.
As an angel investor, I've backed start-ups including Unspun (named one of Time Magazine's 100 Best Inventions of 2021) and MealMe (a Top App in the Food & Drink category on the Apple App Store), among others. In 2021, HBCUvc named me one of its Emerging Leaders in venture capital.
Outside of work, I enjoy film and TV, sports, travel, fashion, and reading and listening to podcasts about business, media, and technology.
